Kathmandu, October 8, 2024. The government opened an additional 57 Peak for climbing. The decision was made in the cabinet meeting held on Monday.
This was stated by Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, who said although Nepal was famous as a country of mountains, most of its Peaks were not open for climbing. In this context, the decision has been taken to open 57 more mountains for climbing.
These Peaks have been opened for promotion and management under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation. Under the ministry, the Department of Tourism has been managing the mountains.
This time, peaks from eastern Taplejung to western Dolpa and Humla have been opened for climbing. As of now, 419 mountain peaks in Nepal had already been opened for climbing, including Mount Everest and all other peaks above 8,000 meters.
