What memorable months May and June have become. I finally achieved my long-standing wish to see Everest. The chance to visit Nepal came on the horizon in April for a short period of voluntary work in May. I thought now or never. Picked half a dozen trekking companies to view on the web, emailed them, and was very impressed by the response and range of support offered by Adventure Pilgrims Trekking. I was to fly from Heathrow on 16th May, to arrive Kathmandu 17th and arranged to see Govinda Prasad Panta, owner of Adventure Pilgrims Trekking on the 18th. I put to Govinda my wishes and needs. Essentially, I wished to see Everest. However, I usually walk alone (in the English Lake District) and not in a crowd. But I needed a guide. Then there was ‘covid legs’, that is not good condition as not allowed to walk on a Lakes’ hill for 18 months because of covid. Then there is inevitable anno domini. And to cap it all, before we started the trek, an unexpected dose needing plenty Imodium and finally antibiotics. Not auspicious - some preparation!
Govinda, who is well known in Nepali trekking circles, breathed kindly reassurance and solved all that could be solved. He arranged for Yadu Babu Kapri to return from Lukla and introduced him as my prospective guide (and porter). We got on well from the beginning. All air tickets and trek permits were arranged for me, my kit checked, and we flew first flight from Kathmandu to Lukla early morning 29th May – this time auspicious , 29th May is ‘Everest Day’ and celebrated as such in Kathmandu. Over the next few days, we chatted about everything from various Hindu gods to garlic soup and Nepali Dal Bhat twice a day. Training to be an official guide is an arduous, lengthy and testing process, Yadu is top class, I saw his official guide’s pass. He woke me day 5 in Tengboche by a 5:30am tap on my door, loose boots then on and out to see many beautifully visible mountain tops and a few seconds glimpse of the triangular shape of Everest’s peak, which clouds rapidly took away again, leaving a beautiful walking day, even if I was slow. Day 8 (5th June) we arrived at Gorak Shep, Yadu had been checking my water intake all the way (for altitude acclimatisation) and seemingly taking care of all else. In the morning we took our chance, up early and on to Kala Pathar, in front of Pumori, and were rewarded by great views and a beautiful sunrise on Everest herself. That was what I had wished to see.
We had been trekking just out of season, yet saw no rain until 10 minutes drizzle on the twelfth day. I think I was very lucky in many ways. There was rain walking into Lukla! Arriving at Kathmandu airport, I was met by Govinda’s assistant, Krishna, and taken to my hotel. Following morning, Govinda came and presented me with a memento scarf and Krishna took me to Pilgrims Book House where I found books for grand children and a copy of George Lowe’s and Huw Lewis-Jones’ original photographic record of “The Conquest of Everest” for myself.
I can not speak too highly of Govinda Prasad Panta, his associates, and Adventure Pilgrims Trekking.

Incredible Trek to Everest Base Camp!
David Decker | USA
If you're searching for a great guide group, you can stop searching. Adventure Pilgrims Trekking is absolutely phenomenal. Our trek to Everest base Camp (and all side tours before and after the trek) were absolutely seamless and were the perfect balance between getting the most out of our trip without ever once feeling pressed too hard. More importantly, you'll be supporting a local family of brothers where your money stays in Nepal without being siphoned off by an expat or someone living outside of Nepal. I sincerely cannot recommend Govinda and Krish more highly. Quit searching for a guide and book with these two brothers - they are fantastic.
Amazing Trek to Everest Base Camp (and exploration of Kathmandu)
Bart Lester | USA
On our 3rd day in country, with an early 430AM start - we headed to the airport for our early morning flight to Lukla. APT got us to (and through) the airport without a hitch. Our flight arrived in Lukla before 7am and after a brief stop for tea, we began our trek to EBC. APT's trekking team on our trip, included one of the company's owners - Krishna Panta (as our guide) and two porters. Throughout our trek, Krishna went out of his way to ensure that we had quality accommodations/best rooms available at any given teahouse. He also made sure our food was prepared/delivered on time so that we could maintain morning departure times. Basically - Krishna made sure that anything/everything we needed - be it food/medicine/tea etc. was taken care of. He even arranged a last minute helicopter charter for a close up tour of Mt Everest and the Goyko Lakes region before we began our return trek from EBC. It is clear that APT maintains good relationships with the owners of the teahouses and restaurants along the trekking route. You can easily tell by the interactions/rapport between Krishna and the teahouse owners/operators. Krishna also made sure that we made plenty of time to stop and take pictures along the way so that we had great memories of our trek - even at the moments when we were too tired to take our cameras out of our pockets!!
After getting us to EBC and back to Lukla (80 miles all told) - Krishna joined us for our flight back to Kathmandu. We wrapped our trip with a couple of days of relaxing and souvenir buying. Instead of sending us to fend for ourselves in the markets, Govinda and Krishna asked us for a list of the items we wanted. They then proceeded to take us personally to the best/highest quality shops in Thamel where we loaded up on incredible handmade scarves, yak bells, knives etc. Thereafter - being a bit sore from the trek - they took us for massages, sauna, steam room and even brought a gent to our hotel who provided us all with a clean shave with a straight razor - a welcome treat after being out on the trek. Our flight back home departed Kathmandu at 215AM, and the Panta brothers delivered us to the airport a little after 11pm.
It was an incredible trip of a lifetime and we could not have been in better, more attentive hands than Govinda and Krishna Panta of Adventure Pilgrims Trekking. I cannot recommend these gentlemen and their company more highly. They are thoughtful, caring locals with great attention to detail and a true to desire to make sure that you have the best time possible in the country they call home.

Unforgettable EBC trek
Anna Zhdanova | London,UK
Despite us being "clients", it felt like being back with old friends. We planned the trek together with the CEO Govinda Panta and we were led on the trek by his brother and co-owner Krishna.
What we really value about this company and the owners: both of them have 20 years + trekking experience, know quite well the region where they provide treks, and based on their long experience guiding people from all over the world, they also understand the western mentality and approach. They both speak a fairly good level of English.
The agency is not the cheapest option on the trekking market in Kathmandu since it focuses on individually-designed treks, but they are quite trustworthy and very reliable. You can be sure they will not mess up with your trekking permits or flights and they are very serious about travel insurance to make sure the safety comes first. They are very responsive (even in pre-trek email exchange / communication) and know how to listen. They always tried to please us in whichever way it was possible.
1 months after EBC trek, we are longing to be back in Nepal and do another trek there.
Professional, experienced and caring

My home stay with Govinda and his wife Sarita was so special. Sarita was so hospital and made me feel very welcome. Even the neighbours were fantastic - very friendly. I finished my trek on a high feeling totally energised and nourished. I loved this holiday. Thank you to my guide Krishna, my porter Raj and Govinda's family. My heart and head is swollen with incredible memories.
